Before even reading this, your first thought is probably, “who?”  That’s fine, it’s why you came to this page anyway.

My name is Adam Soucie.  I’m originally from the Chicago area, but I now live in Orlando, FL.  During the day, I’m a substitute teacher working on securing a full-time job as a history teacher.  When I’m not working, my life revolves around two things: my family and soccer.  In addition to being a fan of soccer in general, I am also the founder of the Orlando Soccer Supporters Club.  We are using the Sons of Ben (Philadelphia) as a model to help bring Orlando a fully professional soccer franchise.

My goal with this blog is to provide some insight to world of soccer, focusing on the American game and city of Orlando.  I may seem like just another member of the soccer blogosphere (a word I detest), and that may be accurate, I like to think I have something to offer.  For one, I intend on taking an uncensored (for the most part) journalistic approach.  Basically, I take the sport and the matches seriously, but I have no qualms about telling you that Random Player played like a blithering idiot.  Whether or not this helps, I don’t know.  I’ll let the comments and traffic speak for themselves.

Being an educator, I also let my teaching perspective influence my writing.  One of my weekly features, MLS Lessons, uses the standard KWL chart from the education world as inspiration.  My articles in general also tend to use the Socratic style.  More often than not, a single question, usually placed in the title, is the focus of an article.

What you won’t find on this blog is endless discussion of the Premiership or other European leagues.  I called this blog “Soucie on Soccer” (read: not football) for a reason.  I follow European leagues and teams, as my Why I Support articles will explain, but there is already plenty of coverage on every major European league.  You the reader don’t need me rambling on about Manchester United’s latest signing.  I’m perfectly content to let someone else do it.  I’ll still make my picks for the Champions League and such, but it won’t go much farther than that.  What you will find regarding European leagues is stories involving American players.  I can’t say I cover American soccer without covering them.

I am also a contributor to The Other Football, the Orlando Sentinel’s soccer blog.  It is run by a great writer, Brant Parsons, and I am honored to have the chance to be part of the team.

I hope you enjoy my take on the sport and its place in the United States.  Comment to your heart’s desire, and come back as often as you can!
